Rowan Carstensen assists Prodrive’s research and development as a Project Engineer for its Composites division in Milton Keynes (UK). His lifelong passion for motorcycles inspired a career in engineering, firstly with Blackstone TEK in his native South Africa, who manufacture carbon fibre wheels. Whilst then completing a Master’s degree in Advanced Motorsport Engineering at Cranfield University, Rowan focused on tailoring vibration damping properties of composite structures in motorcycles. Since joining Prodrive, Rowan has worked with various clients, across aerospace, marine, automotive luxury OEMs and motorsport teams, and continues to help advance Prodrive’s market offering through thoughtful leadership. Most recently he has been involved in driving Prodrive’s R&D, and notably the development of its innovative Primary To Tertiary (P2T) process which satisfies end-of-life requirements without compromising the performance of the original parts.
